The On the Shoulders of Giants sculpture is based on the idea of mirrors as portals for reflection and self awareness. It is the larger of two artworks standing at different entry points of Atwell College, the other is a functional sundial sculpture entitled Live Every Day.

Based upon Spreading Snottygobble (Persoonia Elliptica), the abstracted forms nevertheless suggest the richness of nature. Laser cut, negative silhouettes are overlaid with discs and leaf shapes placed in relief to add the extra dimension of ever changing light and shadow.
