Seedpod forms, blossoms and the geometry of nature were catalysts to express transition and new life.

Jennie Nayton’s artwork reflects the building as a place of music making and learning, producing a work based on the merging of the visual and auditory arts. The artist created a visual notation of a well-known song (Lou Reed’s Perfect Day) into an engaging work that is suspended from the auditorium ceiling and applied to the foyer wall.

Consultation with artists and respected community leaders determined that the artworks for the Fitzroy Crossing Police Station would focus on themes connected to waterholes, fireplaces and learning about country. The resulting works combine traditional methods and new technologies resulting in a vibrant ensemble of artworks.

Rick Vermey’s artwork presents us with an elegant screen located in front of the new languages building and cafeteria. The screen is composed of perforated metalwork panels from the artist’s photographs of the trees, interspersed with the laurel leaf emblem and school’s ethos repeated appropriately in multiple languages.

Tony Pankiw’s series Spinifex for the Health Campus, comprises exterior works and interior floor pieces. The interior pieces were created by seven local artists and translated into circular vinyl floor interventions. The external works encompass a large sculptural form and a series of two dimensional shapes on perforated screens in the abstracted form of spinifex.
