Culture and the Arts Grants Programs

Apply any time

Applications to the U-15k categories of the Community EngagementCreative DevelopmentAboriginal Arts, and Commercial Development Grants Programs are open year round.
 
Apply at least 25 business days before the planned project/activity start date.

Holiday Closures and System Upgrades

Plan ahead

Culture and the Arts Grants is taking a break. Don't miss out! PLAN AHEAD

Due to holiday closures and system upgrades in late December and early January, modified deadlines will apply for applications to U-15k grant categories.

If you plan to start a project between 20 December 2017 and 14 February 2018, please ensure you submit your application by the following dates:

For projects starting on or after 15 February, please refer to 2018 program guidelines, which will be available from 21 December. You can start a new application when Online Grants reopens on 10 January.

Unsubmitted draft applications in the system will expire at 4pm, 20 December, but can be retrieved for later reference if required.

All applicants are reminded to check the U-15k Business Day calculator for last possible submission dates when planning an application.

Arts 'champions' honoured

State Arts and Culture Partnership Honours

Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman announced the recipients of the inaugural State Arts and Culture Partnership Honours at a ceremony at the State Theatre Centre on 24 October 2017.

The honours acknowledge the outstanding contributions of individual philanthropists and businesses who partner with arts and cultural organisations across WA. 

The event was organised by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.

Remote Indigenous Media Awards

Indigenous Remote Communications Association

The 19th Remote Indigenous Media Awards were recently held in Irrunytju with this year’s Festival theme being Lutjurringkulala Nintiringama Ngapartji Ngapartji; meaning ‘come together to learn and share’.
 
Delegates were welcomed to Country, culture, big night skies and Tjukurrpa by Irrunytju traditional owners and community leaders. An album with Festival highlights can be found here.
 
The IRCA (Indigenous Remote Communications Association) run the awards annually to celebrate the value of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander media and broadcasting in Australia.
 
The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries supported IRCA through Culture and the Arts (WA)’s Community Engagement Grants Program.

Unplugged: Nirvana Reimagined

Earlier this month, the Perth Symphony Orchestra and Justin Burford performed Unplugged: Nirvana Reimagined to widespread acclaim.
 
The concert took place at His Majesty’s Theatre and to commemorate the event the Perth Symphony Orchestra has released a video that captures the theatre, music, and atmosphere from the night. You can watch the video here.
 
Perth Symphony Orchestra has been transforming the way audiences listen to and experience music since 2011.

2020 Vision ART ON THE MOVE + Art Gallery of Western Australia. Connect, Listen and Learn Tour

An action-research project, 2020 Vision is a partnership between Art Gallery of Western Australia and ART ON THE MOVE. The aim is to explore opportunities for a collaborative touring programme in 2020 and beyond.

The first stage of 2020 Vision is to meet with key stakeholder groups at regional venues to identify critical issues around increasing impact, and to scope the potential for venue improvements leading to increase touring capacity.

WAYJO honours Mace Francis, in his 10th year as Artistic Director of Australia's premier youth jazz orchestra, with a special night of jazz under the stars.
 
His appearance for WAYJO’s Jazz Under the Stars will see him deliver a collection of his compositions for big band and premiering several new works specially written for the night.

Let the Right One In

This chilling new play is an Australian Premiere production based on John Ajvide Lindqvist's iconic Swedish novel and film of the same name. It is a deeply moving and enigmatic tale of friendship – of promises made and bonds sealed in blood.
 
Clare Watson makes her Black Swan State Theatre Company directorial debut with some of the country’s most exciting actors. Let the Right One In is a mythical coming-of-age tale about a young boy who meets a centuries-old vampire embodied as a girl.
