Volunteer work and work experience

Volunteer work

As well as offering paid employment, the Department of Culture and the Arts offers unpaid work experience and voluntary work. Volunteers are those people who choose to engage in specified unpaid activities within the organisation for the benefit of the community, themselves and the organisation.

Voluntary work is not restricted to students. Most volunteer work undertaken in our Department is by seniors who add the extra value to the services we provide.  Members of the public who access our services are often provided with a different perspective or additional knowledge, information, and experience gained through a volunteer's training and life experiences.

Should you wish to explore the option of voluntary work, it is advisable to contact the relevant Directorate or Portfolio Organisation directly.

The following organisations within the Department of Culture and the Arts provide voluntary work as it becomes available:

The purpose of work experience is to provide people outside the organisation (typically students) with the opportunity to gain experience, skills and knowledge in the arts and culture industry and within the Public Sector.
