A Summary of Accessibility
This venue is within the Perth Cultural Centre and is in close proximity to accessible buses and trains. Accessible parking is available in the basement car park.
Events will be held in the ground floor theatre and seminar rooms.
Wheelchair seating is available at the front and the back of the theatre, however, the rear would only accommodate smaller style wheelchairs.
Accessible toilets are located in male and female blocks which have a small airlock. Circulation space within the cubicle is limited.

Parking
There are four accessible parking bays in the basement car park.
The bays are wide and even.
The bays are identified by the International Symbol of Access.
There are two bays on the ground level and two on the basement level of the car park located adjacent to the lift at the south entrance of the Library.
People using these bays must display a current ACROD parking permit.
Approach to the Building
The path from the accessible parking bays to the front door is accessible via a lift.

There are 12 steps at the Francis Street entrance, however, an alternative route is available via an adjacent ramp.
Main Entrance
The entrance from Francis Street has two sets of automatic glass doors.
The entrance on the city side has a revolving door with an adjacent automatic swing door operated by a push button. The control is close to an internal corner and may be difficult for some wheelchair users to reach.
Foyer, Corridors and General Areas
There is sufficient circulation space to move through all essential areas of this facility.
Lifts and Stairs
There is a lift available from the car park to the Library and an internal lift within the Library which accesses all floors.
The lifts are big enough for a wheelchair.
Circulation space outside the lift is big enough to allow wheelchair access.
The car park lift is outside and close to the main entrance of the Library.
The lift has tactile buttons which are lit up.
The control panels are low enough to be reached from a wheelchair.
The lift does not have an audible announcement.
The external lifts are difficult to find and are not well signed.
Theatre Areas
Access to the front of the theatre and seminar rooms is on the ground floor close to the Francis Street entrance.
Access to the rear of the theatre is via a lift within the main Library. This entrance is on the mezzanine floor.
Access to seminar rooms is via a swing door which is slightly too narrow and heavy. Furniture is moveable.
There is no audio loop in this venue.
There is sufficient circulation space to move through the theatre area.
There is room for wheelchair seating at the front of the theatre, and smaller wheelchairs only, could fit at the rear.
Seats in the theatre are low backed, have a high seat, are hard and have arms.

There is a female / male wheelchair designated accessible toilet on the ground floor, opposite the theatre and seminar rooms.
Toilets are within the main toilet blocks and have airlocks with heavy doors. The cubicle has a narrow sliding door and there is insufficient circulation space in front of the pan.
