The role of the panel

Showcasing the pre-eminent art collection in Western Australia

The role of the panel

The principal role of DCA’s peer assessment panels is to assess applications for financial assistance and make recommendations for funding, on behalf of the people of Western Australia. Panels also have a role in assisting DCA to monitor its programs and, where appropriate, in contributing to the development and implementation of DCA’s policy and programs.

Peer assessment is a cornerstone of DCA’s grants program and ensures that your application will be assessed with sympathetic scrutiny, industry experience and expertise. All panel members are required to observe a code of conduct of impartiality, confidentiality and undertake thorough assessment of each application.

DCA staff do not influence the outcome of your grant application*.

Peer assessment is a highly competitive process, therefore applicants should not automatically assume that their submission will be successful, nor should they enter into commitments prior to written receipt of notification from DCA.

* Artflight and the Emerging Curators Program are assessed internally by the Department.
