International Initiatives

The Department of Culture and the Arts views supporting international engagement as essential to the development of a rich and diverse cultural life for this State and as a key way of building markets for Western Australian arts and culture.

The Department is working to increase international opportunities for Western Australian artists and arts and cultural organisations.  It recognises that international interaction can inspire and reinvigorate, build skills, develop new audiences, extend cross-cultural awareness and enhance Western Australia's trade and diplomatic profile.

The Department works across Government to increase awareness of Western Australian arts and culture and explore it's potential to contribute to the international objectives of other Government sectors. The Department also participates in the development and management of cultural exchange projects linked to the State Government's sister-state relationships.

In addition to this, artists and arts organisations can apply for support for international projects via the Arts Grants Program.
